7th Annual Susquehanna Stumble Elk Neck State Park November 20, 2004 course results: Short Stumble  Long Stumble  White  Yellow  Orange  Course Setters: Randy Hall (stumbles), Brad Whitmore Meet Director: Brad Whitmore Helpers: Marilee Ball, Mike Ball, Eddie Bergeron, Sandy Fillebrown, Scott Fitzpatrick, Julie Keim, Peck Lee The weather was cloudy with a few light sprinkles, but thankfully the real rain help off until after the controls were all picked up. A large number of downed trees (from recent hurricanes) and a National Geographic film crew made for additional obstacles to avoid. The event started at low tide, with two plank bridges over tidal streams along the beach, primarily for the recreational orienteers benefit. By the end of the day the planks were afloat and one of the crossings was waist deep. It would have been interesting if the event started at high tide, with several of the stumble route choices along the beaches. As it was, we heard about some crossing on the far north east side of the map that were thigh deep (mapped as uncrossable). Courses were tough and long, with the longest winning time of any stumble, but everyone seemed please with the challenging design.
