Mid-Atlantic Championships Club Results December 7, 2003
The results are in, and I don't think anyone will be surprised to hear
that Quantico won, handily. Given the weather and the FUMA busload of
kids, it seemed inevitable. DVOA's attendees tended to do quite well but
there just weren't enough of them. SVO had a skeleton crew but they did
manage to put together the 5th place relay team.
Total scores:
QOC 210
DVOA 69
SVO 26
Course points:
QOC 78
DVOA 38
SVO 9
Relay points:
QOC 105
DVOA 28
SVO 10
Attendance points:
QOC 33
DVOA 3
SVO 7
Control pick-up points
QOC 21
Thanks to Ralph Tolbert, Francis Hogle, Scott Pleban, Ted Good, and me
for picking up the controls; I didn't count Francis's effort in points
as I don't know how many he picked up and he was the course-setter so
I'm not sure if he should be included anyway. Clearly it would just be
piling on for QOC.
If anyone wants to see the raw numbers or challenge my results, I'm
happy to provide the details.
Thanks to all who came out, ran in the snow, and especially to those who
hung around in the cold in order to run the relay. The FUMA kids and Tim
Gilbert's kids were great -- upbeat and enthusiastic. We could not have
done it without them (well, we could have, but the scores would have
been much closer).
And a huge thanks to Francis, who wasn't able to get into the park on
Saturday since the road & parking lot weren't plowed, so he started
putting out controls on Sunday at 5 am...and finished taking them down
at 5 pm. That's a LONG, COLD day (in between he was drawing maps for the
relay!).
~Peggy Dickison, QOC Team Manager '03
I'll note, as I did in the announcement I just sent to QOC, that Peggy managed to leave out points I assume DVOA should have received for control pickup (unless Ralph Tolbert defected).
