Rocky Ridge County Park April 7, 2001 course results: White  Yellow  Orange  Green  Red  Course Setter: Jim Rayburn (O,G,R) Mike + Michele Wenz (W,Y) Meet Director: Jim Rayburn, Brad Whitmore Helpers: Marilee Ball, Mike Ball, Gary Dettinger, Jeff Schlaline, Brad Whitmore It was an overcast and drizzly day with temperatures barely exceeding 60 degrees. Many competitors agreed that it was a perfect day for running in the woods. We had 39 maps go out with White having the most participants and the other maps being almost evenly split between the other courses. It proved to be an outstanding day for the club as we added many new members and introduced orienteering to some newcomers. Marilee and Mike Ball helped the beginners and it was fun to see them return smiling as they completed their first O-event. Of course, I suffered a bit of anxiety until at least one finisher completed each course. My thanks to all competitors who shared their insights and suggestions. This will help tremendously as I develop my course-setting skills. We could not have been successful without the help of the helpers (listed above) who gave generously of their time and skills. And on behalf of Mike Wenz, Michele Wenz and myself, I want to thank Brad Whitmore for guiding us through the many aspects of course design and meet direction.
